Caterer, Baker and Beverages

CATERER

WHEN CHOOSING A CATERER, ASK YOURSELF:

  • What type of cuisine would you like? Traditional, modern, fusion?

  • What's your guest count and budget?

  • Do you need to cater for specific requirements, e.g. nut-free, no onions, kids meals.

  • Have they worked at this venue, or your type of wedding before?

  • Do they offer a taste testing session? Can you bring other people to get more opinions?

  • Do you have to work off their menu, or can you work together to create something.

  • What kind of set up do you want, family style, buffet, etc.?

BAKER

WHEN CHOOSING A BAKER, THINK ABOUT:

  • What kind of cake do you want? 3 -tier traditional, 5-tier, cupcakes, display cake only?

  • Would you like other desserts? If so, consider whether these would be from your baker, or your caterer.

  • How customized of a cake do you want? Be it flavours, design, etc.

  • Does the baker meet your budget?

  • Do they offer a tasting?

BEVERAGES

WHEN CONSIDERING DRINKS, CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING:

  • Do you plan to serve alcohol, or only soft drinks - or will it be different at various events?

  • Can you bring your own, or do you have to use a bar service from your venue or another vendor?

  • How would the venue, caterer or bar charge for drinks?

  • If alcoholic drinks will be served, do you plan to provide this (all inclusive or pay per drink), or will guests be paying?

  • If deciding between an all inclusive bar and pay per drink, consider how the venue charges (ie: do they charge per person attending) and how much your guests may drink.

  • Would you want to offer / include spirits, or just wine and beer?

  • Would you like speciality / custom cocktails or mocktails offered?

  • Does what you want to do fit in line with your budget?
